Come out to the fourth annual Tenant Town Hall and help protect our right to Decent, Affordable Housing in DC!
Saturday, July 16th
2:30 to 5:00 pm
First Trinity Church
309 E St NW
(near the Judiciary Square or Gallery Place/Chinatown metros)
Join tenants from across the city to talk with elected officials and government agencies about our housing needs and priorities; get involved in campaigns for affordable housing; and strategize to build a stronger tenant movement in DC.
Some of the issues we’ll be focusing on this year are: DC’s tenant purchase program (we’ll be screening a new documentary video, “WE OWN THIS,” about tenant purchase), changing the definition of affordable housing to make it truly affordable to local residents, and protecting subsidized housing.
Last year we had almost 200 tenants participate in the town hall. This year, let’s make it even bigger so we make sure our elected officials get the message that affordable housing and tenant rights are priorities for DC residents!
There will be free snacks & childcare (please RSVP if you need childcare).
And free interpretation in Spanish, Amharic, and Chinese.
The 2011 Tenant Town Hall is co-sponsored by:
Latino Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), ONE DC, Empower DC, CARECEN, Mi Casa Inc, Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, Legal Aid Society of DC, Bread for the City, Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center, AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly, Coalition for Non-Profit Housing and Economic Development, DC Jobs with Justice, Tenant Associations from across DC, and more!
