Housing for All Wins Big in the DC Budget

June 7, 2012

Through the tireless efforts of our members, supporters, and allies, the final  version of the DC budget includes all of the Housing for All asks we have advocated for this spring! This week, the Council of the District of Columbia voted on the Fiscal Year 2013 Budget Support Act (BSA), committing the final pieces needed to fully restore the Continuum of Housing in this year’s budget. The BSA included additional commitments to housing programs beyond the housing and economic development wins already passed in the Budget Request Act on May 15.

Thank you for your hard work.  This would not have been possible without you. We delivered a unified message to the Mayor and DC Council: Housing is a priority for District residents, a necessary resource for our communities, and no housing programs should be left behind in this budget, and this budget must support programs that invest in our neighborhoods. You told your stories through rallies, emails, testimony and visits, and the Council heard your voices loud and clear. Through your actions hundreds of families will find affordable homes in the District, and small businesses will be able to access the support they need to thrive.

Please take a moment to  email the DC Council and tell them you appreciate their support of affordable housing and neighborhood based economic development. You can send a one-click email here .
